Newton Country Day School Squash Players Receive Scholar Athlete Award
Newton Country Day School Varsity Squash team members J. Love ’21 and C. Odegard ’22 have been named Scholar Athlete Award recipients by US Squash for the 2019-20 school year. This marks Odegard’s first year as a recipient and Love’s third.

“What a great honor for these two,” said Director of Athletics Kimberly Southall. “It has been incredible watching these two young women grow as athletes and as people over the years. Their commitment, passion, and dedication to the sport of squash has helped them in their individual and team success - a well deserving recognition for both of them.”

“Love and Odegard were instrumental in our victory at the New England tournament last year,” added Varsity Squash Assistant Coach David Byron. “Thanks to their stellar performances, patient encouragement of their teammates, and willingness to encourage dedication through example, both players have become instrumental to the NCDS squash program. This honor is extremely well deserved, and I applaud them!”

Established in 2006, the US Squash Scholar Athlete Award recognizes high school students who excel in both the classroom and on the squash court. Award winners have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and played in either a minimum of three US Squash accredited singles tournaments or an approved number of US Squash Scholastic Squash Program (SSP) matches during their season.
