Senior wide receiver Cornelius Johnson was recently named to play in the All-American Bowl, presented by American Family Insurance. The co-captain received his ceremonial football jersey during a special presentation in Camuto Auditorium on Tuesday.
Johnson, a Greenwich resident, is one of just 100 seniors across the country to earn All-American accolades. The group of 100 are all invited to play in the 2019 All-American Bowl on January 5. The game, broadcasted live NBC, will be played in the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.
Midway through his senior season, Johnson leads the team with 25 catches for 420 yards and five touchdown receptions. The 6-foot-3 speedster has a 99-yard kick return and a 32-yard rushing touchdown to add to his scoring total for the year.
To date, Johnson has posted some impressive career statistics, as the wide-out hauled in 104 receptions with 1,761 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns.
Johnson has been offered an athletic scholarship from several major NCAA Division I football powerhouse programs, but has yet to decide on a college.
