Berkshire School Boys Skiing: 2017 NEPSAC New England Class A Alpine Skiing Champions!

The pinnacle of private school Alpine ski racing resides within the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council, in which the Berkshire School boys and girls' team compete.  

On February 15th, The Berkshire Boys traveled to Mt Sunapee, New Hampshire to compete in the New England Class A Championships.  By and far, this was the youngest Bear's ski team to participate in the NEPSAC Championships, with the average residing in the 4th Form/10th Grade.

2014 Rivers Boys' Varsity Skiing Repeats as NEPSAC Class B Champs


The Rivers varsity boys’ ski team successfully defended its NEPSAC Class B Championship on Wednesday at Loon Mountain, claiming the 2014 Championship by taking both the giant slalom and slalom events. James Bradley ‘17, Ben Freeland ‘16, Stephen Richlen ‘15, Thomas Corcoran ‘15, and Ben Pasculano ‘15 represented the Red Wings, coached by Harry Finch and Ben Schwendener.

Belmont Hill Alpine Ski Team Wins Class A NEPSAC  Championship


Belmont Hill's Alpine Ski team traveled to Okemo Mountain in Vermont and captured its first Class A NEPSAC Championship. "It was an exciting day that was filled with some excellent ski racing and outstanding competition," said Coach Tyson Trautz. "The boys competed in both a two run Slalom and a two run Giant Slalom. They really came together as a team for this competition, and came away with an impressive win." Results are listed below.

Salisbury Ski Team Wins 2013 NEPSAC Class C Championship!

On Wednesday, February 13, the Salisbury Ski Team travelled to Mt. Sunapee and returned as NEPSAC champions.  The boys finished first overall, barely edging out a talented Pingree squad for the overall win.  Salisbury won the GS race, placing all five racers in the top 20.  Dan Cone ’14 finished 2nd overall, Eric Macy ’14 was 7th, Nick Shaw ’13 was 11th, Alec Grant was 13th and Erich Kilger ’14 finished 18th, giving Salisbury the lead heading into the afternoon slalom race.

2013 NEPSAC Class B Champions: The Rivers School


Rivers’ varsity ski teams headed north to Shawnee Peak in Maine for the NEPSAC Championship races and returned home with the boys’ title for the second straight year. This year, however, they earned the Class B title, having moved up from Class C where they’ve competed in the past.

Co-captains Tom Barker '13 and Dan Corcoran '13 were joined by Tom Corcoran ’15, Ben Freeland ’16, and Steve Richlen ’15. All five boys had to do well – three each in the giant slalom and slalom races – in order to earn enough points for the title.

Rivers Boys’ Ski Team Wins 2012 NEPSAC Class C Title


The Rivers boys’ varsity ski team secured the NEPSAC championship title at Mount Sunapee on Wednesday, led by top-ten slalom and giant slalom finishes by captain Tom Barker ’13 and Stephen Richlen ’15.

“Their strong finishes were key to the success yesterday,” said Coach Jonathan Damon, who was pleased with the outcome of Wednesday’s race. “Our team performed consistently and excelled in racing fast when it mattered most. They did a great job yesterday and their coaches and parents couldn't be prouder.”

2012 Berkshire Boys' Skiing Class B Champs - Again!


On Wednesday, February 15, 2012, the Berkshire boys’ and girls’ alpine ski teams travelled to Berkshire East Ski Area in Charlemont, MA, for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B Ski Championships, hosted by Salisbury School and Trinity Pawling. The NEPSAC championship—which represents the pinnacle of the ski season throughout New England and features 29 teams—is based on two runs each of giant slalom (GS) and slalom (SL). Both Berkshire teams performed very well in the GS and SL races, with the girls’ team in its inaugural year mastering the SL half, and the boys’ team reprising its dominant performance from last year in both races, thereby capturing the NEPSAC championship. Several Individual performances were similarly strong.

Gould: 2010 Class A Nordic and Alpine New England Champions

The Gould Academy boys' and girls' Nordic and Alpine teams have won the 2010 New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Championships.

Gould Academy played host to the boys' and girls' Nordic NEPSAC Championships on Wednesday, February 17. Both girl's and boy's teams placed first in the 7K Classic Race and the 4x3k Relay to take the title in a large field of schools that included Andover, Proctor, Holderness, and St. Paul's School.
