Suffield Academy standout goalkeeper Maddy Carpenter ’11 continues to make an impact on the USA Field Hockey Women’s Junior National Teams. After participating at a camp July 16-19 with over hundred of the nation’s best field hockey players at the University of Maryland, Carpenter was selected for the USA Field Hockey U19 and U21 squads.
Carpenter was one of just four players to be named to both teams. The U21 team will travel to Asia for the 2011 competition while the U19 team will head to Chile.
In March, Carpenter competed in the 2010 Youth Pan American Championships for the USA Field Hockey Women’s Under-17 National team in Montevideo, Uruguay. Carpenter helped lead the team to a 7-1 victory over Chile to claim the bronze medal.
Maddy has had a busy summer playing field hockey around the world and competing in the New England Junior High Performance team in Virginia Beach in the National Futures Championship. She was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
