Suffield Academy Boys' Track and Field wins the 2010 Division II New England Championship


On Saturday, May 15, the boys’ track and field team traveled to Byfield, Massachusetts and won the New England Prep School Division II Championship for the second consecutive year. After winning by a one-point cushion last year, the Tigers finished 45 points ahead of second place Belmont Hill. The Tigers were able to defend the title with balanced scoring throughout the events.

Lester Taylor broke both his own school record and the New England Prep School Championship record with a time of 1:56.23 in the 800 meters. The quartet of Kyle Surprenant, Matt Blakeley, Tommy Uszakiewicz, and Lester Taylor took 1st place in the 4x400 relay, the fourth consecutive year that Suffield has won this event. The 4x100 meter relay team of Kyle Surprenant, Atiq Lucas, Michael Budness, and Tommy Uszakiewicz took 2nd place.
