Ravens Host LCA in First Home Match in 19 Years
PORTSMOUTH, R.I., January 18, 2013 –The Portsmouth Abbey School Wrestling Team hosted Lexington Christian Academy today in its first home wrestling match of the season and the first wrestling match that has taken place as a varsity sport at the Abbey in 19 years.
With an overflow crowd of students, parents and alumni cheering on the Ravens, the Abbey fared well, with three wrestlers – Nick Medley ’13, Rasaanh Matra ’13 and Ben Wilson ’15 – pinning their opponents to win hard-fought matches. The Ravens came up short overall, 48-30, and are now 2-5 on the season, although, judging from the delighted spectators, the final outcome of Friday’s match was secondary to the thrill of having wrestling back at the School.
2012 Northfield Mount Hermon Wrestling Team Takes Third Straight NEPSAC Championship
For NMH wrestlers, the third time's the charm—but then again, so were the first and the second times. Last weekend, the wrestling team won its third New England championship in a row, while also hosting the tournament, which brought 47 schools and approximately 230 wrestlers to campus.
As was expected, the team championship was a tightly contested race between NMH, Belmont Hill, and St. Paul's School. Each of the three teams held the lead at different times throughout the tournament, but in the end NMH prevailed. NMH wrestlers Matt Libby '12 and Henry Anderson '13 each won individual championships in their weight classes, and NMH entered five competitors in the final round, the most of any school in the tournament.

08 NMH Wrestlers Take Class A New England Championship
Led by four champions and five additional place winners, the NMH wrestlers won the school's first New England Wrestling Championship. NMH's margin of victory was the largest in tournament history and was a fitting capstone to a season that saw the the team win the Class A League Tournament, three other tournaments, place 11th in the National Championships, and post a 21-1 season dual meet record. Fourty-four of the 50 New England wrestling schools were represented at the event. The team title helped to partially erase the frustrating second-place finishes in '98, '01, and '02 for retiring Coach Frank Millard.
